Each and every personal computer or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, and any applications that are present on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a web server, each application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so you can set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Web Hosting

We offer as many as three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs out there and we provide all 3 rather than only one as we realize that you might want to install some software that has specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're various software programs you could install on the server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you need to have some other OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you'd like. We also offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a larger choice regarding the system environment on the machine as different apps could have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and benefit from a stable and safe hosting service. Based on your decision, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you have selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
